This Sunday, May 18, 2025, we walk to break the silence. To give voice and strength to the men fighting their own battles with prostate cancer, and to those who stand by them.

With this powerful message, Europa Uomo Cyprus and the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre are joining forces, inviting the public to take part in the “Blue Route” – a symbolic 2km walk, supported by Strovolos Municipality, to be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 11am, starting and ending at the Oncology Centre.

The initiative aims to raise awareness, inform and mobilise society around the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of prostate cancer – a disease affecting thousands of men in Cyprus which, when detected early, can be treated effectively.

The event will be held under the auspices of President Nikos Christodoulides, who will participate in the march, sending a strong message of support to patients and their families.

“The greatest obstacle to prostate cancer prevention is silent detachment,” noted President of Europa Uomo, Andreas Moiseos. “The tendency not to speak, not to know, to be afraid,” he added. “The ‘Blue Route’ is an opportunity to raise our voices. To take care of ourselves and those we love through knowledge, presence and solidarity.”

“The ‘Blue Route’ is an open invitation to everyone to place health at the heart of our daily lives, and to stand by every man on the path to awareness, care and, above all, prevention,” noted Panos Ergatoudis, General Manager of the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre. “As an Oncology Centre, we continue tirelessly to promote prevention as the strongest ‘weapon’ we have against cancer.”

The event is open to the public, men and women of all ages, and made possible with the valuable support of OPAP Cyprus (Major Sponsor), the Cyprus Sports Organisation, the Cyprus Amateur Athletics Association, the Electricity Authority of Cyprus, Agros Natural Mineral Water and Novartis.

With every step we take, we affirm our commitment to the fight for health. We break the silence, we speak about prevention, we stand together.

Prostate cancer concerns us all. Prevention begins with us.
