No dates have been set yet for a visit by the UN chief’s personal envoy María Ángela Holguín to Cyprus, UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said late on Monday.
“She did start today. We have asked, as soon as we have some indication as to when she will go (to Cyprus), we will share it with you. But I don’t have yet a timeframe to share with you, Dujarric told reporters at UN headquarters in New York.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres announced Holguín’s appointment in early May.
She is tasked to reengage with the two sides in Cyprus in order to work on next steps on the Cyprus problem and advise him.
Holguín completed a previous assignment as personal envoy from January to July 2024.
