The two men arrested on charges of attempted murder and robbery on May 10 and May 18 in Paphos will be brought before court in June, police said on Monday.

Paphos police’s assistant operations director Michalis Nikolaou said that the 33- and 39-year-olds will remain in custody until their trial begins at Paphos criminal court on June 25.

While both men were wanted in connection with two separate crimes, their cases unfolded together on May 10 after police had reportedly been informed that both cohabited in a Paphos flat.

Following a discreet surveillance, police had arrested the 33-year-old man in Paphos on May 10 as he was travelling in a car driven by a 35-year-old man.

Both individuals were detained for aiding and abetting in the commission of an offence. During the operation, the 39-year-old suspect managed to escape.

On May 18 police located the fugitive in an apartment in Tala and proceeded to arrest him under suspicion of attempted murder and robbery, committed in Paphos on April 28 and 30.

Three other people present in the flat were arrested for allegedly providing asylum to a wanted person
